Seller's Notes: This carpet was purchased almost 50 years ago in Tunisia. Mint condition bakhnoug, hand-stitched by southern Tunisian women in anticipation of marriage. The more elaborate the “naqash” — Arabic for decoration and conversation— the more valued and the more alluring. Pure wool with the red dye taking on deep and multiple hues and shades.
