Seller's Notes: A two panel painting Inspired by the imaginary goings on in the world of the ocean by artist and educator Joan Del Vecchio. Although a recurring subject in the work of Henri Matisse goldfish also appear in this work. The goldfish immediately attract our attention due to their color. The golden yellow strongly contrasts with the orange, pinks and greens that surround the fish when placed next to one another and appear even brighter. For Matisse the goldfish came to symbolize a tranquil state of mind and at the same time became evocative of a paradise lost. 24" x 40"
